Ngā Rangahautira is the Māori Law Students Association at Victoria University of Wellington. We were established in 1986, as a small group of Māori students supporting each other through law school. Over the past 40 years Ngā Rangahautira has grown largely, but our goal still remains the same; to provide support for all Māori law students enrolled at Te Herenga Waka. The support we provide can take many forms, from study wānanga’s to exam prep nights, from kaupapa driven events such as kapa haka and parakuihitanga, to clerkship workshops with law firms. Each year we run larger events such as the Māori moot, the Negotiations competition and Noho marae. There are so many ways in which you can get involved with Ngā Rangahautira, and in which we can provide support for you. All of ours events are designed to build whakawhanaungatanga connections and create a safe space for our students within the law school.
You can find us in the Awhina Room on the ground floor of OGB
